UN Women

Henna is associated with happy marriages, and applied mostly to hands and feet. To make women aware of a national violence helpline, and to bring attention to the fact that 1 out of every 3 married women in Pakistan is abused, we applied henna as bruises: a black eye, the makrs of a hand around a woman’s throat.
The campaign was worn by parliamentarians in government sessions, and brought about a new bill increasing protection for women.
